A white man, Uwe Baltner, has become a viral sensation on social media for singing songs from different parts of the world in his Fiat 500 car.Just recently, Uwe was spotted singing Nigeria’s Naira Marley’s controversial song, titled Soapy. His funny rendition has had social media users impressed seeing as he does not even speak the language of the song lyrics.
A 16-year-old boy arrested by the Gombe State Police Command for cyber fraud, has blamed his actions on Naira Marley whose song and lifestyle he claimed influenced him.
While the police said that the suspected internet fraudster is 18 years old, the suspect identified as Gabriel Michael insisted that he is just 16 years old.
“I learnt hacking through tutorials on YouTube; for so many months I was at it. The lifestyle of a Nigerian musician, Naira Marley, the way he spends money influenced me. Marley talks about being a Yahoo boy (cyber fraudster). My addiction to computer started at the age of seven,” Michael said.
“I’m 16 years old, from Kaltungo Local Government Area of Gombe State. I finished from the Nationwide Academy in Gombe. I was arrested for hacking into someone’s account.
“I generate software like IP protocol, Angry IP scans, linos and I use them to do the job” he added.
Pleading for mercy when paraded before newsmen, Michael said he can channel his skills to legal ventures but has no one to encourage him.
“I regret my actions. I pray to be pardoned, so that I can use my talent in other to work for them (law enforcement agency). I can channel my ideas to legal ventures but the challenge has always been that nobody encourages one to use his talent to do good things. For instance, friends will push you to do so because you are making money. My ambition is to work hard to become a member of the Department of Security Services.”
On how he has been able conceal what he does from his parents, the suspect said he hides under the cover of his everyday job which is aluminum works.
“I hide under the cover of my job; I’m into aluminum works. My parents did not suspect my heinous activities,” he said.
Revealing how he was able to hack into the bank account of one Deborah Tanko to withdraw N187,000, Michael said;
“Once you can guess a name or number you will formulate it. Usually, I start from getting your telephone number from your social media platforms, such as Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. After getting your names, telephone number and your bank, I will formulate it, and attempt to get your personal data base from the bank and thereafter generate your token for transaction. I don’t usually exceed two attempts; if you do it thrice, you will be caught.”
Punch reported that the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mary Malum said Michael was arrested on August 30, 2019 around the PZ Quarters ( a commercial area of Gombe) for fraud, cheating and cybercrime.
“Michael used his computer to hack into Tanko’s account and withdrew the sum of N187,100 cash from her GT Bank account and the suspect has confessed to the crime. Exhibits recovered from Michael include one mobile handset, N10,000 cash, two pairs of shoes and clothes, amounting to about N33,000. The items were bought with the proceeds of the illegal withdrawal.
“The suspect is under investigation with a view to charging him to court. In line with the IGP’s vision and mission of the Operation Puff Adder meant to reclaim the public space from heinous criminal elements that are threatening internal security, the Gombe State Police Command is determined to ensure that Gombe State remains peaceful.”
Recall that Naira Marley was arrested by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in May 2019, shortly after his heated exchange with his colleagues in the entertainment industry on cyber crime. The “Am I a Yahoo Boy” crooner was subsequently arraigned before a Federal High Court in Lagos on 11 counts of cybercrime and credit card fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
The music star was sighted on a live video session that was filmed via the Instastory story channel of his verified Instagram platform. It would be recalled that over the past few weeks, the Soapy crooner has been very vocal on micro messaging platform, Twitter. However, it appears a lot of users on the platform are not particularly fascinated by some of the messages he passes across.
Reacting to the criticisms that have been coming his way, Naira Marley bashed everyone that has referred to him as an illiterate on the social media app. He stressed that he is well learned and got an education during his 20 years of living in England.
Meanwhile, it was previously gathered that the rapper reaffirmed his commitment to using his art to lift their spirits of his supporters. In a post shared on Twitter, Naira Marley assured his fans that he would use his music to clear their heads and heal their hearts.
Fast-rising singer, Naira Marley, seems to have acquired a new ride. In a video shared on social media, the Soapy crooner was spotted posing with a brand new Porsche Panamera.
This is coming after the singer was released from prison for allegations bordering on fraud Nigerian entertainers are known to enjoy living a luxurious life and this is evident in how they splurge when it comes to acquiring new properties.

After being away for a few weeks, Naira Marley is back with behind the scene shots of the video to his song, ‘Soapy’.
After taking a few weeks off, Naira Marley and the king of the Marlians is back to drop the video to his hit single, ‘Soapy’.
The Marlians might have been getting restless, waiting for their king to release a video for their anthem, but it seems the wait is over. A few hours ago, Naira Marley posted a picture of himself, Zlatan, Rahman Jago, Guccy Branch and one other person on his Instagram page with the caption, “Inside Life.”
You might remember that “Inside Life” is the first set of words off the hook to ‘Soapy.’
They were all dressed in orange outfits to mimics prison clothes while backed what seems like a container. The shot feels like it came off the ‘Soapy’ video shoot.
You might remember that a few months ago, Zlatan, Marley, Jago and Guccy Branch were all arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). While Zlatan, Jago and Guccy Branch were all released after four days in custody, Marley was charged before a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos. He is still only out on bail.
The Irish police seized some weapons from the youths and also arrested one man in his 20s in connection with the gang violence.
The Police of the Republic of Ireland were reportedly forced to shut down an event headlined by Naira Marley on Saturday, July 6, 2019, after a gang of youths were spotted fleeing the scene.
According to an Irish news website, Dublin Live, the incident occurred at Lost Lane just off Grafton Street before Naira Marley took to the stage to perform.
Following the gang violence, Dublin Live reports that the scene has since been closed off to the public.
It was also reported that a number of weapons were seized and the Irish police have also arrested a man in his 20s in connection with the incident.
An eyewitness , Samuel Naija said the Irish police arrived on the scene and “drove everyone out” before shutting the show down.
Samuel said: “An African artist ‘Naira Marley’ was headlining a show at Lost Lane yesterday with some other upcoming acts.
“We came for the event which started around 10:30pm.
“People were waiting for the artist to perform when all of a sudden gardai came to the venue, drove everyone out and shut it down.
“Afterwards Garda came in tens and filled everywhere. Everyone was still surprised and curious as to what was going on because no gang attacked or anything.”
“They [the crowd] filled the street around the venue confused as to where to go and some [were] angry at the organisers asking for refund.”
Reacting to the incident, the police spokesperson said they are “Investigating an incident where a large number of male youths congregated outside a premises on Adam Court, Dublin 2 at approximately 1am on 7 July 2019.
“A number of offensive weapons were located after the youths departed and were seized by Gardaí. One male in his early 20s was arrested and was charged in relation to this offence. Investigations are ongoing.”
You’ll recall that a Nigerian artist, Chief Ogbonnaya recently accused Naira Marley of stealing the ‘Soapy’ dance, but Marley has responded, swearing on his life, that of his four children and his mother saying he has never seen his accuser before.
Guinness World Record holder and dancer, Kaffy feels no dance is more immoral and disgusting as Naira Marley’s new dance, ‘Soapy.’
Kaffy has condemned the dance to Naira Marley’s song, ‘Soapy’ in strong terms.
Five days after Naira Marley pioneered the new dance step – which subtly dignifies masturbation – Kaffy has condemned it saying the dance trend should never be encouraged.
Kaffy is known to have set the trend and supported many Nigerian dances from Gala to Swo, Shoki, ShakuShaku and recently Zanku. The dancer had thrived on teaching young talents while also exhibiting her dancing skills in several music videos.
Kaffy says further in an Instagram post that in the history of the Nigerian dance, she hasn’t seen any as immoral and disgusting as the soapy dance, which is growing like a wildfire.
“Am sorry but I can’t take this. In the history of Naija dance, I have never seen a more disgusting immoral dance like the so-called Soapy. It should never be encouraged. Am really disappointed,” she posted.
It’s obvious Soapy isn’t working for the mother of two, who is also married to a drummer and choreographer. Her strong condemnation of the dance trend clearly is clearly indicated in her reasons.
She noted further in the caption of the Instagram post that though it’s her opinion, the Soapy dance should not be encouraged just for the sake of a new trend. Kaffy also points out the inability of the man behind the trend – Naira Marley – to censor the dance from kids.

She says, “As dancers we should also speak for what is right we shouldn’t encourage this for the sake of trend. Esp when it’s not even censored away from kids, as an adult sef it’s offensive.”
Kaffy’s condemnation of the Soapy dance is gradually getting support from fellow entertainers, who shares her views.
Don Flexx has strongly condemned Naira Marley’s Soapy dance. [Instagram/DonFlexx]
Fellow dancer and choreographer, Don Flexx says he totally agrees with Kaffy’s take saying the illustration of the dance is immorally disheartening. “I totally concur with you, the signatory dance illustration is immorally disheartening and improper for commercial viewership and yet alone not safe for young viewership as well,” Don Flexx submitted.
Leading makeup artist, Lola Maja also made her submission saying decency isn’t a trend.
“My sister… If no lines are drawn what will be the next trend? Decency isn’t a trend,” Lola Majasays.
Singer, Nikki Laoye and Femi Branch also had their say while supporting Kaffy’s take on the dance.
Laoye simply referred to the new dance trend as a wank dance. “True… Totally off and watching ladies do it sef looks weird and ewww.. It’s a wank dance nah WTH.”
Nollywood star actor, Femi Branch is saddened that some celebrities are sharing the dance trend and help promoting the ‘immoral’ dance. “Well said Sis. Very soon, kids will start dancing it and then what? And some so-called celebs too are doing it and posting on their IG! Shame!!!”
Femi Branch says it’s a shame celebrities are promoting the soapy dance.
On Air-Personality and ‘Jenifa’s Diary’ actress, Lolo 1 also lend her voice to Kaffy’s position saying, “I loved you before I love you more now ..is it that we do not want this generation to thrive? why would we just destroy common sense.”
Naira Marley, however, is not slowing down in promoting his dance trend. On July 1, after Timi Dakolo’s wife, Busola opened up on how the lead pastor of COZA church raped her at the age of 16, Naira Marley took to his Instagram to further promote his dance while condemning rape.
Barely two months back, Naira Marley was engaged in a controversy after he tried making a case for internet fraudsters on Instagram. His take saw a strong condemnation from singer, Simi, and rapper, Ruggedman. The singer went ahead to release a hit single, ‘Am I a Yahoo Boy’ after which he was arrested and arraigned in court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for alleged involvement in internet fraud. He released a follow up single filled with lewd lyrics shortly before his release, ‘Opotoyi.’ The single is followed by ‘Inside Life’ chronicling his experience during his incarceration.
